Overhaul coming to all three Services Pages

…Right.

I recently got some feedback on how confusing or time-consuiming it is to go through the Services Pages to find our Free services. To solve that problem, I’m going to make a separate dedicated page for just services being offered for free. I will also drop a note in the existing pages letting everyone know where to go to find them.

For those who might not know, yes we do offer some services for free. They’re listed on the existing pages right now actually. What I’m going to do hopefully by the end of this week is move them all to a dedicated page. That will make it easier for anyone who is interested in them to tell them apart from our Paid services.

IMPORTANT: Amateur Photography Services No Longer Being Offered Until Further Notice

I put the notice in the Consulting Fees section already but effective immediately, Amateur Photography services are no longer being offered until further notice. The reason is I am in need of a new digital camera. I anticipate being able to buy one sometime in the Spring or Summer of 2023. The reason I need to buy a new camera is because I am no longer able to charge the rechargable battery for my existing digital camera. I bought it in 2013 and it would be more cost effective for me to buy a new digital camera.

Once I have a new camera, I’ll provide another update.

Yes, our many consulting services are still being offered

I know, it’s been two years since my last post. Current events in Boston, America and the world aside, not much has happened with me.

Until now, honestly I haven’t been taking this 4 year venture as an Independent Consultant as seriously as I should have been. After recently getting some feedback, I am now all in with this moving forward. When I first started my work as an Indpendent Consultant in 2018, it was mostly planned to be a side hustle. That was when I thought I was weeks away from finding a full-time job somewhere.

Based on some of the constructive feedback I recently got, I need to make this a full-time commitment. I’m making it known to all that I am actively looking for work. I am WELL aware that being an unknown is a bit of a problem for some and I plan to take some steps to change that. One step is once I’ve finally gotten some work, I’ll post reviews and feedback on this website for folks to see. Another step I have recently taken is I bought a new webcam for my desktop computer. What this means is I can now do remote video conferencing with people from home. My laptop computer already has a built-in webcam but I got one for my dekstop for a bit of additional flexability.

Now that the Pandemic phase of COVID-19 is over, I am once again offering in-person services. I have no problem wearing a face mask for in person services if preferred. Just let me know.

I do have two big announcements to make. One is the official name of this business is now Serene Adventure Consulting. You can also refer to it as S.A.C. for short. I’ll spend the rest of this month updating the pages of this website to reflect the new name. The URL has also changed accordingly so update your links. On a related note. The other big announcement is .SA.C. now has a dedicated email address. The new email address is sereneadventureconsulting@gmail.com. I have already shared this on the official Facebook page and will add it to the website as well.

I’m back and I’ll be pushing hard to get the word out about this renewed venture. Feel free to follow along. Feel free to also check out any of my other 11 blogs here on WordPress in the meantime. I’ve been keeping myself busy over the last 2 years after all!

As a reminder some services are offered remotely

Anyone who’s been following half of my other blogs for the last two months is well aware that I recovered from COVID-19 about two weeks after I announced I tested positive. Although I have resumed my job search earlier this month, I did not forget about my work an Independent Consultant either. I actually made a Facebook group which I hadn’t done before this week.

I don’t think I said this before but all of my services are by appointment only. My availability will obviously change once I have secured  job in Boston and my schedule will need to be reworked with that in mind. I can say for sure I will not be available for any kind of work ever between sunset Friday and sunset Saturday for religious reasons.

All that said. Here is the full list of services I already announced that I can do remotely:

Domestic Services

  • College Mentoring and Studying Support
  • Teen and Adult low-budget Cooking Lessons
  • Housing Search Assistence
  • Homeowner Room Rental Consulting

Note that all of these are paid Services. I will make an expanded menu in the near future on the Domestic Service Page for both cooking and Lessons so keep your keep checking back!

Social Services

  • Resume and Cover Letter Drafting and Editing $
  • Interview Prep and Practice $ (NEW!)
  • Social Media Disconnect and Detox $
  • Understanding Anime and/or Video Games for Parents and Educators
  • Public Speaking Support $
  • New, Unexpected or Single Parent Pregnancy Support for Moms
  • New, Unexpected or Unplanned Pregnancy Support for Dads

A $ denotes denotes there is a Fee or Charge. If you don’t see one, it’s FREE.

Interview Prep and Practice is a New Service as of this posting. It can be combined with Resume and Cover Letter Drafting and Editing at no extra cost.

Wellness Services

  • Toxic Family Stress Management
  • Stress Management at Work
  • Relationship Stress Management and Mentorship
  • Meditation and Relaxation Lessons $
  • Looking for Housing with “Family Status $
  • Looking for Housing with No Credit or Poor Credit $

A $ denotes denotes there is a Fee or Charge. If you don’t see one, it’s FREE.

…For ease of access, I included links to each page so you can read and learn about these various services. For the paid remote services, I do accept payment via PayPal or CashApp. I got CashApp earlier this year and updated the Consulting Fees page accordingly. My CashApp ID is $Brendan2k5 on that note.

I am adjusting with the times to say the least. I know things have been hard for so many people not just in the U.S. but around the world in the aftermath of COVID-19. These are uncertain times to say the least. Even so, I am doing what I can to hopefully make things a little easier through my Counseling and Support Services.

Ok so I tested positive for COVID-19

I figure I break the news from now.

I was feeling sick for most of the week. I spoke to my doctor Friday morning and he asked me to come in to be tested. I got the test this morning and it came back positive.

Time for some Q&A ^_^

Q. What was getting tested like?
A. Very quick. The doctor swabbed the back of my throat. Only took a moment to get a culture. It was uncomfortable for me but not because of the process itself. I get muscle cramps in my jaw and neck when I open my mouth really wide. Had I known, I would have done it in advance.

Q. How long will you be self-quarantined?
A. My doctor said I likely had it for at least a week prior to being tested. So, I was told to self-quarantine for another 7 days while my family must self-quarantine for 14 days. I plan to self-quarantine for 14 days personally to be safe though.

Q. How did you get it or how do you think you got it?
A. My mother and I both believe I got it from another member of the household who was sick the week before. My doctor said it’s likely everyone else in the house is COVID-19 Positive though as of right now, I am the only one who got tested and had it confirmed.

Q. How will you handle daily needs?
A. I live in a house with 3 bathrooms. I will use one and my other family members will use the others. As for food, I have a mini fridge. A family member will bring meals to my bedroom door for me. I also have my medications in my room already.

Q. How are you feeling now?
A. A lot better than I did two days ago physically. I had trouble breathing most of Thursday starting in the afternoon, Things got so bad, I had to go to a pharmacy to get a new rescue inhaler since I have asthma. That helped get me through the night. It’s what led to me getting tested Friday.

…Ok, I think that covers everything worth talking about for now. I plan to provide updates over on my main blog regarding my health so free free to subscibe to it if you haven’t already.

I do not anticipate my updates to this blog will be severely impacted.

A new category will be coming: Occupational Services

As it happens, I am actively looking for interested persons who would like to work with me as part of this Consulting and Support Firm. Yes, I work WITH not work FOR. Also yes I said Consulting and Support FIRM. It always was one but this is my first time referring to it as a Firm. Don’t worry, I will update the language to properly state this on all pages accordingly to help avoid confusion.

I hope folks can appreciate how serious I am taking things. The thing is, capital–money–will be needed to move things in the best direction. I’m doing what I can on my own but I know that I will need business partners and affiliates if I really want to see this new venture grow.

…This is where Occupational Services comes in.

Basically, those who agree to work on behalf of the Firm will be able to work their own hours. They will also be able to keep 100% of what they earn while working as part of the Firm.

Before I continue, here are my requirements:

  • Be 18 years old or older
  • Live in the Boston Area or be willing to commute to Boston (We will need to be able to meet in person)
  • Have a working cell phone (for communication purposes)
  • Have or willing to make a Google Account (for broader communication purposes)
  • Willing and able to commit at least 6 hours a week
  • Optional but open to making a PayPal Account if you don’t have one already (so you can be paid electronically)

…That’s it.

This isn’t something meant to be a primary source of income but it is meant to be a reliable source of income for everyone involved. It will be a community-based Consulting and Support Firm. Mutual trust, support and patience will be the keys to this venture being successful for everyone involved.

A few kinds of people who this new venture could greatly benefit include:

  • Someone who works full time or part time already
  • Someone who is currently unemployed and needs to earn money while still looking for work elsewhere
  • Someone who goes to college and wants to broaden or sharpen their skills
  • Someone who is looking to learn new skills or teach new skills to others
  • Someone who is looking to make money on their own time at their own pace
  • Someone who has a drive and/or passion for helping others
  • Someone who is open to trying something new
  • Someone who is dealing with personal struggles and would like a change of pace

It’s all about creating opportunities for people to feel successful. That’s my longterm plan. Regardless of where you are in life at the moment, I would be open to working with you. I am looking for folks from all backgrounds and life experiences personally.

How exactly would that look? Well, take a look at the almost 30 services I currently provide. I lead by example. Those who sign on would have the services added to either one of the existing categories, the new Occupational Services category or new ones created as needed.

A few examples:

  • Someone works as a Nurse or is otherwise CNA certified. They can provide medical-related services at their discretion including consultation.
  • Someone works as a Paralegal, Attorney or is otherwise licensed. They can provide legal services at their discretion.
  • Someone has a background in construction or contracting. They can provide related services or consultation at their discretion.
  • Someone works as a cook or in the restaurant industry. They can provide related services or consultation at their discretion.
  • Someone is a College Student and would like the sharpen their skills in their area of study. They can provide related services or consultation at their discretion.
  • Someone has an interest in photography and would like to do some freelance work.
  • Someone has an interest in Social Work or Therapy or is working on getting licensed/certified.
  • Someone just graduated from high school and wants to explore various vocations.

…I could go on but hopefully that helps explain things.

Of course, I am aware that for the Firm to grow we will need capital–money. I said everyone will be able to keep all of their earnings. Everyone will be asked to give a cut of what they make toward the Firm’s operating expenses. Myself included.

A few such expenses that immediately come to mind include:

  • Becoming Licensed and Registered with the State of Massachusetts
  • Buying or Leasing Property the Firm would operate out of.
  • Rent/Mortage and Utilities for the property
  • Furnishing the property.
  • Hiring an accountant, CFO and General Manager.
  • General Business-Related Expenses

…That’s it.

Ideally, I would like to Buy or Lease a mixed Office/Residential property. Why include residential? Because I would like to include a lodging area that will provide living space for associates and clients case by case. I know this would be a pretty big venture but it would be worth it. Anyway that’s where I’m at. Once more people sign on as colleagues. the range and depth of what can be provided will vastly change.

If you think you might be interested, feel free to let me know so we can talk!

Before I forget, yes I am on Twitter

Image result for Twitter and WordPress

If you already follow me on Twitter, you’ll see this same post and another one multiple times since I posted them on ALL of my WordPress blogs at once.

I’ll keep this one short, though. Assuming you’re reading this first from WordPress, my Twitter handle is @LaVonDavis617. Feel free to Direct Message me on Twitter if you’d like–I only recently found out what and how to DM on that note–and I’ll get back to you when I can.

The easiest way to get in touch with me without knowing my phone number is via Google Hangouts or iMessage. I have an Android Phone but I also have an iPad. I can text an iPhone as long as I know the number but if you wanted to text my iPad first, you will need to know my iCloud Email. It’s the same with Google Hangouts, which requires either an Android Phone number or a Gmail account.

  • My iCloud is btboston1@gmail.com
  • My Gmail is btboston1@gmail.com

…My iPad is Wi-Fi only but I’m pretty good at getting back to people fairly quickly. This way, everyone has at least 3 different ways to get in touch with me. Of course, you can also just email me if you want.

One last thing: I am in need of Donations. Use the link below if you’re able and willing to donate!

As the saying goes, Time is Money: A New Fee to be aware of

Image result for Toll Road Boston

Effective Immediately, I will now charge a $50 Recheduling Fee.

This fee will be applied in one or more of the following kinds of situations:

  • No-show our first meeting with no notice.
  • Make a last-minute cancellation within an hour of our scheduled meeting time.
  • More than 30 minutes late without a stated reason.
  • I am unable to make contact for 7 consecutive days

This new Recheduling Fee will be applied to ALL Services including the Free ones. Don’t worry, you will be notified so you can make an informed decision before you agree to anything. I am also writing up a written version for new clients and existing clients to sign as well. Those who are currently receiving any of my services are NOT exempt from this new Fee.

Now I will answer the question “What happens if one or more of the above conditions are met?” First, all services between myself and the client will be terminated immediately. The client will also be informed by text, email and/or phone call. In order for services to be restarted, the client will need to pay the Fee in full first (Cash or PayPal only).

The Rescheduling Fee will NOT be applied in ANY of the following types of situations:

  • I’m notified 2 or more hours prior to our meeting time of the need to reschedule or cancel.
  • I’m notified of a late arrival (I can be flexible sometimes).
  • An Emergency Situation (Because I know things happen).
  • I cancel or rechedule myself (I will give you notice).

I’m a pretty flexible and understanding person overall. As long as I’m given notice, you should never have to worry about this Rescheduling Fee. I am doing what I feel I must to put a stop to having my time wasted and time being taken from other clients I work with. It’s about the principle and consideration at the end of the day.

In general, I like to be consistent in what I do and say

Image result for Covered Bridge

When I first launched this blog 7 years ago, it was meant to be a backup to my old website Serene Adventure.net. I never would have imagined back then that I would have gone on to make 10–soon to be 11–more blogs on WordPress. I spent almost $500 on just operating costs with my original website over an 8 year period. I was able to do WAY more than that for free these past 7 years with WordPress.

My personal life has been in limbo over the last three–no, five–years in particular. Even so, I have learned a lot over the last 3 years I have been unemployed. My work as an Independent Consultant is a new venture I started late last year. I’ve got some big aspirations but I am also realistic. I know my limitations but I don’t think that disqualifies me from needing and wanting to make some big life changes.

Priority #1 is being able to support myself financially. To that end, I decided to start a Consulting Firm. Of course it’s not currently licensed or registered but that will change once I have the money to make it happen. At the same time, I am still looking for employment. The money I do make as an Independent Consultant isn’t much and isn’t consistent enough to really be considered income. I can’t even report it for tax purposes or I would have already.

This is something I have been saying to the people I’ve met in the last few years a lot lately: People have learned to love things and use people when it should be the other way around. You’re not rich until you have something money can’t buy. I have no interest in being rich or famous. Doing things for others makes me happy at the end of the day. At the same time, I am far more likely to go out of my way for someone who I know will appreciate the help I provide.

Every time I get a Like for one of my blog posts, I know someone appreciated the effort I put into it as well as the content. I have written almost 1,000 articles across my 11 blogs. I took my time putting every single one of them together.

For almost two years now, you’ve seen this at the end of every article:

If you have enjoyed this post or other posts I have made on this blog, please consider making a monetary donation via PayPal. Whatever amount you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

…To date, no donations have come in since I started including this in my posts across all of my blogs. I am now asking those who have especially come to enjoy my postings no matter how long it’s been to please donate. Without going into all the details here, I need your fiancial support. If you’re able donate but want to talk to me first, you can email me at btboston1@gmail.com.
